The Film Emperor Asks For Divorce Every Day 影帝每天都想离婚[穿书] Ch. 21

Translated by Neirith

“Work matters,” Yu Chen replied.

Ling Qing didn’t ask any further questions, merely stating, “It’s time to go to bed, yet you’re still talking about work. You must really love your job.”

Removing his slippers, he got into bed, using a long leg to sidle over to Yu Chen. Peering at his moist hair, Yu Chen stretched out a hand and felt it. Just as expected.

“Blow dry your hair before going to bed,” he said.

“It’s fine,” Ling Qing hadn’t been minded like this since childhood, “I’m used to it. Doesn’t matter whether I blow dry it or not.”

“Don’t you get headaches?” Yu Chen asked.

Ling Qing shook his head, “Nope.”

Yu Chen eyed him suspiciously.

Seeing his expression, Ling Qing thought for a bit before leaning close to him, grinting, “I’m just too lazy to blow dry my hair. But baby, if you want to help me, my hair can be dry before I go to sleep.”

Yu Chen laughed, “Why does it have to involve me? Either way, it’s not me who will have a headache.”

Ling Qing clicked his tongue, “So mean, so fake.”

He sighed, laying down under the covers, “I lent you my bed and you won’t even blow dry my hair. What a cold, cruel, emotionless world this is. Like midnight rain pelting down the flowers, tear drops dripping down a heartfelt letter, daybreak comes. He who wishes to impart his thoughts must enter into a monologue. It’s so hard, so hard, so hard!”

Yu Chen: …

“Where’s the hair dryer?” He said helplessly.

From the bedside cabinet, Ling Qing retrieved a hair dryer and handed it to him with an innocent expression. Yu Chen glanced at the look of pure innocence plastered on his face and went to his side before starting to blow dry his hair.

Ling Qing was pleased. “Am I the first person to let you blow dry their hair?”

“Who else would?” Yu Chen retorted, “Only you’re this lazy.”

“Laziness is the common state of man. Out of laziness, humans invented washing machines, dishwashers, automatic vacuum cleaners, et cetera. Therefore, laziness is the driver of progress. You must cherish every lazy individual, because it’s due to them that we have so many great innovations.”

”So you’re saying I should cherish you?”

“Nah, I’m just telling you that lazy people are blameless, long live science!”

Yu Chen burst into laughter, “You’re really skilled at speaking nonsense. Since you’re so good at it, why don’t you become a lawyer? You can turn black to white.”

“I hate that I didn’t study law before, now it’s too late to go back.”

After hearing this, Yu Chen was curious, “What did you major in?”

“Finance,” Ling Qing recalled the original owner’s major. This was, of course, not his real major, which was tourism management.

Nodding, Yu Chen added, “Then you still want to do this line of work?”

Ling Qing shook his head, “Not interested.”

“Then what are you interested in?”

“Acting,” Ling Qing replied truthfully.

Seeing that the topic had come up, Ling Qing stopped hiding his intentions and simply informed Yu Chen.

“If there are any talent selections, I’ll probably go try. See if it could be my ticket into the entertainment industry.”

Yu Chen, who had a lot of tickets on hand: …

“So you want to join a talent selection?”

“Yeah, it’s the easiest and fastest way to enter the entertainment industry, and I’ll have a few fans when I debut.”

“Do you want to be an influencer?”

Ling Qing shook his head, “I want to be an actor, but I know you have to have some popularity in order to get a good script. If you have no fans and no exposure, you’re nameless. No matter how good your acting is, nobody will want to see you. Who would?”

That was true.

It was only…

Yu Chen looked at him and frowned, still not understanding. “Still, why? Isn’t it better to join a company and have a stable career? If you can’t find one, you can come to me and I can help you.”

“It’s all well and good, but I just want to act.”

“But you’ve never studied acting, are you good at it?”

‘Of course I am’, Ling Qing thought to himself, ‘I am an actor.’

Besides, “Aren’t there a few untrained actors and actresses who switched careers and became talented nowadays? How many actors and actresses didn’t stick with their original career, yet still achieved good results?”

Yu Chen was still hesitant, “Do you have to be an actor?”

“You don’t want me to be an actor?” Ling Qing questioned.

Yu Chen looked at him and stayed silent. It wasn’t that he was opposed to it, but he felt strange when he thought that his spouse would need to be intimate with other people. He had never been a magnanimous person, especially towards his spouse.

If he could distance himself from other people after marriage, then Ling Qing should do the same, right?

At least, in terms of intimacy.

However, Yu Chen couldn’t voice this.

He only glanced at Ling Qing and said, “I hope you can find a more stable career.”

Ling Qing heard his words but said nothing and watched him quietly as he listened to the sound of the hair dryer. It didn’t take long for Yu Chen to dry his hair, and he turned off the hair dryer before placing it on the bedside cabinet.

“Go to sleep,” Yu Chen instructed.

Nodding, Ling Qing got in the covers. The lights were turned off, and Yu Chen similarly lay down.

Ling Qing lay on his pillow in the dark, feeling the residual warmth in his hair. He was getting along with Yu Chen pretty well these days, so he didn’t want to start the next morning at odds.

However, he also didn’t want to give up his career.

He was most suitable for acting, and he really liked it. Maybe one day, when he’d had enough, he would find an ordinary, stable job, just like Yu Chen said. But not now.

He continued thinking for a while before he rolled to his side and whispered, “Xiao Yu.”

Yu Chen replied with an ‘en’ and turned toward him.

In the dark, their two faces couldn’t be seen clearly, and it gave them an air of patience and intimacy.

Ling Qing asked, “Is the only reason you don’t want me to be an actor because it’s not stable?”

For a moment, Yu Chen remained silent before finally replying, “Go to bed, it’s late.”

“Are you tired?” Ling Qing said out of consideration, “Then go to sleep, I guess we’ll talk about this some other time.”

Yu Chen only felt more irritated after hearing this. As a mature, rational adult, he knew he shouldn’t interfere with Ling Qing’s career, and although his spouse, Ling Qing was still his own person. He had the right to pursue any career he wanted.

That is, as long as it didn’t break the law.

Yet, he was not so mature or rational in regards to this matter. He clearly felt opposed to it. He didn’t want Ling Qing to have close contact with people in places he couldn’t see. Even if it was part of the script, he didn’t want it. He should belong only to him. Only hug him, only kiss him, only be intimate with him. Not with other people, not with strangers he didn’t know.

The possessiveness in his heart rose ceaselessly.

He reached out and grabbed Ling Qing’s waist, pulling him into his arms as he hugged him and placed a kiss on his forehead. Then, he whispered, “Go to sleep. Good night.”

The author has something to say:

Xiao Yu: Why can’t you only hug, kiss, and flirt with me?

Xiao Yu: I can’t help being so possessive!

Ling Qing: What, still trying to challenge fate?

Xiao Yu: …

Ling Qing: Xiao Yu flipped over, just like a sunfish. Be a good boy, resign yourself to fate.

Xiao Yu: I hate this!

  1. Yu Chen possesiveness has increased, and Ling Qing hasn’t debuted yet. He’d go crazy when LQ becomes popular.

    Thanks for the chapter!
