The Film Emperor Asks For Divorce Every Day 影帝每天都想离婚[穿书] Ch. 39

Translated by Neirith

Yu Chen peered at her and questioned, “Why did you need a break?”

Qin Yanyu was startled.

Yu Chen added, “Wasn’t the take going well just now? Why did you stop?”

She hadn’t expected him to question this.

Just now, she had happened to accidentally look up and see him. With a heart filled with joy, she couldn’t wait to feast her eyes on his body. How could she still have the heart to continue filming? Especially a scene in which she was to embrace someone else.

“You arrived so suddenly, it’s like if a teacher suddenly stands in front of you and watches you take a test. I was anxious, so I needed a break.”

Having failed to comprehend her mentality, this teacher looked over to see just what exactly there was to be anxious about.

Notwithstanding, he was unwilling to criticize her for this, so he simply said, “This is a work that our company is heavily invested in. Although the company doesn’t measure the expenditure, every NG creates invisible costs. In the future, try to minimize unnecessary breaks.”

Once he said this, he surveyed Ling Qing ambling over and said plainly to her, “You go rest first.”

Then, he walked towards Ling Qing.

As Qin Yanyu watched him leave her side and approach Ling Qing, her heart was in turmoil.

She lowered her head and walked quietly to the rest area.

Ling Qing saw Yu Chen nearing him and smiled, asking, “Why are you here?”

“I’m not allowed to come?” Yu Chen questioned back.

Leaning close, Ling Qing whispered, “Now that you’re here, our female lead’s heart is in a state of confusion. Do you think you should have come?”

Yu Chen was confused, “What do you mean?”

Seeing the confusion in his face, Ling Qing commented to himself that, as expected, Yu Chen had no clue about Qin Yanyu’s feelings for him.

This little lady’s love was unrequited.

“We’ll talk when we get back.” He smirked. “There’s too many people here.”

Yu Chen had no objections to this, and had Xiao Liu inform the director that he and Ling Qing would retire first.

Together, they walked in the same direction. Yu Chen followed closely, his gaze wandering over Ling Qing’s face.

They had obviously just video chat yesterday, but for some reason, when he saw him on the set today, he felt he hadn’t seen him for a long time.

He glanced at the white clothes that Ling Qing donned, then looked at his bundled hair.

The texture of the clothing was superb, and it was white as snow, with golden threads forming delicate and exquisite patterns.

He wore a belt of the same color, which perfectly lined his all too slender waist. There was a jade pendant hanging off the sash, with a yellow tassel that added color to his garments.

He Chaoyang was a man of Jianghu, so the crew didn’t provide him with a jade crown and chose a silver one instead. This created a degree of refinement, causing him to appear like a rich noble son.

Yu Chen had never seen Ling Qing in costume and felt that the sight was strange, yet novel.

“Am I that good looking?” Ling Qing asked.

Yu Chen laid a hand on his shoulder and took a close look.

Indeed, very handsome.

To begin with, Ling Qing was handsome. This costume made him even more dashing and added a hint of ancient charm, like a man out of an ancient painting.

Nodding, Yu Chen praised him, “Very handsome, it’s very like you.”

“I think so too.” Ling Qing grinned.

After saying this, he continued forward once more.

Following in his footsteps, Yu Chen watched his white sleeves swaying along and suddenly felt that the black coat he was wearing matched him.

He looked at Ling Qing’s wide sleeves and, without thinking, abruptly reached out a hand. He grabbed the hand that was hidden in the sleeve.

Startled, Ling Qing turned his head and looked at him.

At the same time, Yu Chen looked away, as if it were not he who had taken the initiative to hold hands.

Deliberately feeling his palm, Ling Qing asked, “Does the scenery look good?”

“Yeah.”

Ling Qing pinched his hand, “Didn’t you just say that I look good? Why aren’t you looking at me then?”

Yu Chen: …

Yu Chen felt that he was being really annoying at the present.

With no other choice, he turned his head and looked at the one before him.

Chortling, Ling Qing questioned, “Am I good looking? Or is the scenery good looking?”

“Why are you such a narcissist?”

Yu Chen wanted to pinch his face again, but it was inconvenient to do so, so he pinched Ling Qing’s hand instead.

“Can’t you be a little humble every so often?”

“Wow.” Ling Qing looked at him in astonishment, “Mr. Yu turned hostile so fast. He clearly just said that I was good looking. Why did he suddenly say I’m a narcissist? Mr. Yu, even if a gentleman isn’t as good as his word, you shouldn’t be like this. Are you being Zhu Bajie? Waving your own flag.”

Yu Chen: …

Ling Qing sorrowfully covered his heart, “Snatching other peoples’ hands and calling them a narcissist. Even Zhu Bajie wouldn’t do such a thing.”

Yu Chen: …

Yu Chen felt he ought to find a way to cover Ling Qing’s mouth and save himself from a day’s worth of blathering. Then he could have the last word!

Noticing that they had approached the hotel, he recalled that Ling Qing was currently an actor, and instructed conscientiously, “Let go of my hand.”

Hearing this, Ling Qing gave him an incredulous look and said mournfully, “I only said a few words and now you want me to let go! It was you who wanted to hold hands, so we held hands. Now you want me to let go, where’s your conscience?!”

Yu Chen: …

Ling Qing suddenly remembered, “Oh yeah, you have no conscience.”

Yu Chen: …

Yu Chen felt the most appropriate way to summarize his relationship with Ling Qing was the following —— it was better to reminisce and not meet.

And right now, he definitely didn’t want to reminisce about Ling Qing!

“You want to hold hands with me and walk through the lobby?” Yu Chen smirked. “I have no objections, but I don’t know if our newcomer Mr. Ling will have any opinions about this?”

Having expected him to say this, Ling Qing let go of his hand. “Mr. Yu is right. I’m only a small time star, I shouldn’t be so conspicuous with Mr. Yu. I’m not worthy!”

Yu Chen: …

Using large strides, Yu Chen went into the hotel.

Ling Qing couldn’t help but laugh silently, for fear that Yu Chen might be humiliated into anger.

He followed Yu Chen all the way to the elevator. He was in no rush, and walked slowly, as he was sure that Yu Chen would wait for him. As soon as he entered, Yu Chen shut the elevator door.

Ling Qing was prepared to continue teasing him, but was pressed against the wall as soon as he started to speak. “Mr. Ling, return to normal.”

“How big is my heart? How big is my stage? As long as I have the heart, the world is my stage!”

Yu Chen snickered lightly, “You like acting so much, isn’t it tiring to film every day?”

“I’ve just barely started. It’s only my second day.” Ling Qing said calmly, “But what about you? You came to visit after only two days apart. Did you miss me?”

“What do you mean I miss you? I’m just fulfilling my promise.”

Ling Qing asked, “Which promise?”

Reaching into his pocket, Yu Chen retrieved the note and pushed it into his hand.

Inspecting the familiar piece of paper, Ling Qing immediately laughed. He opened it to see that it was naturally the note he had left Yu Chen before. On it, he had written two words: Xiao Yu.

—— This was what he had left behind at home, and the only thing he had wanted Yu Chen to bring.

He lowered his head to look closer as the smile in his eyes grew.

Yu Chen watched him smile with his head lowered.

Ling Qing raised his head and was about to glance at him, when he was held by the waist. Then, in the next moment, Yu Chen kissed him.

Ling Qing complied and held Yu Chen, sharing a long kiss.

When it ended, Ling Qing heard Yu Chen speak the truth into his ear. “Yeah, I missed you.”

The two entered Ling Qing’s room. They conversed for a while, resting before Ling Qing needed to return by himself to continue filming.

“I have one more scene to shoot. Once I’m done, I’ll come back.”

“Okay.” Yu Chen did not object.

Smiling, Ling Qing gave him a kiss. “I’ll be back as soon as possible.”

Squeezing his face, Yu Chen whispered, “Okay.”

With this, Ling Qing stood up and left.

Zhong Huan had seen Yu Chen leaving together with Ling Qing. Now, seeing him return, he went over and asked, “Who was that? The guy you left with.”

“You don’t know?”

“Speak less rubbish, why would I ask you if I knew?”

“Well then, I don’t want to tell you.”

Zhong Huan: …

Ling Qing laughed and answered, “My brother.”

“Huh?” Zhong Huan was stunned. “You have a brother?”

“Childhood friend.” Ling Qing added.

Although all of Morning Rise’s artists knew who Yu Chen was, most people apart from them had no clue. This was because Yu Chen was too low-key, so they didn’t know he was one of the bosses of Morning Rise. They only knew Huo Qi.

Since Yu Chen acted like this, Ling Qing didn’t want to randomly divulge his identity.

But, he wasn’t sure of Yu Chen’s thoughts on this, so it was better to claim him as a childhood friend. The best attack was a defense, and so he found a reasonable explanation.

Once he said this, Zhong Huan understood.

“Your childhood friend looks pretty good. He doesn’t want to act?”

“Obviously not.”

“Oh yes, he’s your brother, so if he doesn’t perform as well as you, he might feel embarrassed.” Zhong Huan quickly created a reason.

Ling Qing felt that his ability to supplement was quite strong. It saved him the need to make up an excuse.

“I’m going to shoot first. You practice your lines well.”

“I got it.” Zhong Huan waved to him and walked away.

Ling Qing walked onto the set and saw Qin Yanyu, who was in the middle of asking a makeup artist for touch ups. He hoped that this time, they could try their best to pass.

It was probably because Qin Yanyu had the same idea, that the two of them completed it smoothly.

Director Li asked them to redo it twice before choosing the best one and letting them rest.

This was Ling Qing’s final shot of the day. Once done, he called it a day.

After speaking with the director, he went to his dressing room to remove his makeup.

Yu Chen napped for a while before he heard the sound of Ling Qing returning.

“Done?” He asked.

Ling Qing nodded, “I’m done.”

Glancing at his watch, Yu Chen said, “Just right, let’s get dinner.”

“Sure,” Ling Qing smiled, “My treat.”

“No, it’s my treat.” Yu Chen insisted, “I’ve already booked a room.”

Ling Qing was somewhat taken aback. “You’re not staying with me?”

He was a little disappointed. He thought that since Yu Chen had come to visit him, he’d also stay with him.

Hearing this, Yu Chen laughed and asked, “Do you want me to stay with you?”

“You’re thinking too much.” Ling Qing retorted.

He walked over to the cupboard and retrieved a bottle of mineral water, twisting off the cap and taking a sip before he said calmly, “Mr. Yu can stay wherever he wishes. Wherever that is, is not up to my discretion.”

Watching his seldom seen display of hypocrisy, Yu Chen felt it was a bit amusing. He walked over and stood behind Ling Qing, placing both hands on the cabinet to corner him in an embrace. Lowering his head, he asked, “If it’s nothing to you where Mr. Yu lives, then what is it to Mr. Yu?”
