The Film Emperor Asks For Divorce Every Day 影帝每天都想离婚[穿书] Ch. 43

Translated by Neirith

Yu Chen met him halfway, looking unsurprised. “You’re finished shooting?”

“I’m done.”

Yu Chen gave him a nod.

“What about you?” Ling Qing asked, “Are you done talking to Qin Yanyu?”

When he said this, he noticed Yu Chen’s expression sink.

Ling Qing was somewhat puzzled, and heard him ask as soon as he drew near, “Why didn’t you tell me about it?”

“Tell you about what?”

“Qin Yanyu.” Yu Chen asked seriously, “Why didn’t you tell me she was targeting you on set?”

Ling Qing chortled carelessly, saying, “It was unnecessary, it’s not a big deal.”

“Ling Qing, I told you previously, you can tell me things. Maybe you don’t need my help, but it wouldn’t hurt to let me know more.”

“Why weren’t you willing to tell me?”

Ling Qing surveyed his serious expression and blinked unknowingly.

To him, this kind of small issue wasn’t something he needed to inform Yu Chen of. Perhaps it wasn’t that the issue was small, but rather because it was something to do with his work. He didn’t think about it, and therefore didn’t tell Yu Chen.

Ling Qing was highly independent.

In his fairly short career, he had never relied upon others.

His parents had divorced when he was young, and neither of the two wished to take him. Thus, it was his grandmother who took pity on the youth and provided him with a home.

However, his grandmother was too old. How could he burden her with his worries?

So, he became like this from an early age, never relying on anyone, never seeking assistance.

He resolved each and every issue himself. If he was in the right, he was happy. If he was wrong, he’d accept his punishment and resolve not to do it again.

He had always approached things this way, and he would never impart his affairs onto others.

What was the point of telling other people? To let them help him take care of it?

Then why not solve it himself?

Obviously, they were things he could solve himself.

Watching Yu Chen, Ling Qing paused. He suddenly came to the realization that they didn’t know enough about each other.

He could inform Yu Chen about Shu Tong and Ling Bai’s matter, and also ask Yu Chen to assist him with Shu Tong’s whereabouts, because he considered this to be a matter regarding his life.

His life was intertwined with Yu Chen’s, so when Yu Chen asked, he told him without concealing anything.

However, the matter regarding Qin Yanyu was something he considered part of his work, and Yu Chen was unrelated to his work.

It was like how Yu Chen wouldn’t tell him about the clients he’d met that day, and which contracts he’d signed.

Therefore, he failed to think that he needed to tell Yu Chen about the artists he’d met and things that had happened between them.

He felt that this was only normal. However, Yu Chen certainly didn’t think so.

——He wanted to know more about him, each and every thing, regardless of whether they were related to life or work.

“It’s not that I wasn’t willing to tell you.” Ling Qing pulled him into a corner and explained gently, “I just didn’t think about it.”

“I just figured it was part of work. The things I encounter at work are things I should solve myself. Just like you don’t come home and tell me about your work.”

“That’s why I didn’t tell you.”

Hearing his explanation, Yu Chen gripped his hand that was holding him. Actually, he really wanted to hold Ling Qing, but considering that Ling Qing was an actor on the set, he could only settle for the next best thing.

“This is different.” He said slowly, “Qin Yanyu is one of the people under me. It’s inappropriate for her to target you, so you should have told me.”

“In regards to those in Morning Rise, you’re also one of the artists under me. I’m the boss, and as your spouse, I’m even more of a boss.”

“The nature of our jobs is different, okay?”

Is that the case?

Not in Ling Qing’s opinion.

According to Yu Chen’s view, if there was a problem with Yu Chen’s work, he would also come to him for help.

As Yu Chen’s spouse, surely he would be asked to help, right?

“Okay then.” Ling Qing complied, “Next time I come across something similar, I’ll let you know. You too, if you come across anything at work, you have to let me know.”

“Great.” Yu Chen stopped complaining.

Looking gently into Ling Qing’s eyes, he said earnestly, “Ling Qing, you should have some more faith in me.”

Ling Qing froze for a second before laughing.

“I already have a lot of faith in you.” He said.

In this world, Yu Chen was the one with whom he had the closest relationship with, and was the one he had the most faith in.

“Then, try to rely on me.” Yu Chen stated.

Ling Qing unconsciously blinked, his thick black lashes like little hooks, tickling others’ emotions.

After a long time, he quietly answered, “I will.”

Although it might be difficult, it wasn’t entirely impossible.

“It’s just, it might be a little slow.” He said.

“No matter.” Yu Chen said gently. He continued, “I can wait, we still have a long time.”

Ling Qing looked up as Yu Chen smiled. The autumn sun scattered across his face, making him look particularly attractive.

They really did have a long time.

Once Qin Yanyu was finished crying, she was about to go into her dressing room, when she saw Ling Qing and Yu Chen walking alongside each other in the distance.

Ling Qing appeared to be saying something, and Yu Chen tilted his head, as if listening carefully.

Qin Yanyu quietly watched them, and suddenly realized something when she looked down.

She looked at Ling Qing’s wide sleeves and could see within it, the sleeve of Yu Chen’s black jacket.

They were actually holding hands!

Qin Yanyu was in disbelief!

Yu Chen was actually holding his hand in public, under everyone’s nose.

Did Yu Chen… Did he really like him?

After a short while, Ling Qing and Yu Chen stopped holding hands. They were in the presence of many people, after all, so they only dare to be intimate for a brief period of time.

Ling Qing withdrew his hand, feeling the remaining warmth as he recalled their prior conversation and how Yu Chen had pretended to accidentally grab him.

Without saying anything, he had accepted it and continued walking.

‘So innocent,’ Ling Qing thought. He thought it was only little elementary schoolers who loved to hold hands. Unexpectedly, the grown Yu Chen was also like this.

He was truly a love novice. Just a kid in love.

It was… pretty cute.

Silently laughing, he stole a glance at Yu Chen, wanting to give him a kiss.

Sitting in her makeup chair, Qin Yanyu quietly allowed the makeup artist to apply touch ups.

The makeup artist didn’t understand why she had suddenly wept to this extent and asked, “Sister Qin, did you just finish a crying scene?”

Qin Yanyu gave an “mmm” in reply.

The makeup artists sighed ruefully, “Sister Qin, you’re so amazing. There’s no way I could cry on command.”

Qin Yanyu remained silent. She had nothing she wanted to say, and nothing that she could say.

She peered into a mirror and saw her red and swollen eyes. She couldn’t help but think of what Yu Chen had said.

She never thought she’d see the day when Yu Chen spoke to her like that.

She began to feel bad again.

There were so many people in the world, but Yu Chen was the only one that she wished she could remain forever pure and dazzling for.

It was only Yu Chen that she cared about, and she didn’t want him to hate her.

Nonetheless, Yu Chen hated her now.

Qin Yanyu didn’t care about the loss of endorsements, but she cared about how Yu Chen had seen her in a new light.

She really didn’t want Yu Chen to hate her.

Seeing her cry silently, the makeup artist immediately consoled, “Sister Qin, don’t cry. If you cry, we won’t be able to fix your makeup.”

“That’s right.” The assistant beside her handed her a tissue. “Sister Qin, are you still filming? Don’t you need to hurry?”

Qin Yanyu laughed bitterly and took the tissue, dabbing her eyes.

She hadn’t finished filming yet. She acted secretly in love with Yu Chen for so long. How could she easily stop?

But what could she do other than stop?

Yu Chen hadn’t set his sights on her at all. The one that he liked wasn’t her.

Qin Yanyu’s tears streamed continuously. She clearly came first. Why wasn’t she the one who was together with Yu Chen?

She soon found the answer. It was because she had never felt that she was worthy of Yu Chen.

Although she liked Yu Chen, she also felt that she was unworthy of him and only watched, never daring to approach him.

Thus, she hid her love for him and had never told him, even now.

Looking in the mirror, Qin Yanyu inspected herself. For the first time, she asked herself, what would happen if Yu Chen knew?

If Yu Chen knew that her actions towards Ling Qing were due to her secret love for him, would he still hate her?

Qin Yanyu felt like she had seen a weak flame flickering in the winter. Despite being small, it gave her hope.

Drying her tears, she stood up and whispered, “Don’t touch up for now.”

Hearing this, the makeup artist urged her, “That’s fine. It’s almost time for lunch. Sister Qin, you go eat something first and adjust your mood. We’ll do touch ups this afternoon.”

“Okay.” Qin Yanyu nodded.

She exited the dressing room and returned back to the hotel.

Without changing her clothes, she stilly pinched herself and walked toward Ling Qing’s room.

Ling Qing and Yu Chen had just finished eating. They were about to take a nap, when they heard a knock on the door.

Ling Qing looked at the door and was about to get up.

Pushing him back down, Yu Chen gave him a kiss and asked, “Who is it?”

“I don’t know,” Ling Qing replied honestly, “I didn’t invite anyone over at noon.”

“Then, just ignore them. Let’s take a nap.”

Ling Qing smiled and pushed him away as he got up. “Better not. I’ll go see who it is.”

Yu Chen similarly got up, watching him.

When Ling Qing opened the door, he saw Qin Yanyu.

He asked in shock, “What’s up?”

“Is Mr. Yu here?” Qin Yanyu asked quietly.

“Are you looking for him for something?”

Qin Yanyu nodded and lowered her head, although it was apparent by the look of her eyes that she had cried. She said, “I have something I want to say to Mr. Yu.”

Ling Qing opened the door and let her in. Then, he went into the bedroom.

“It’s Qin Yanyu. She said she has something she wants to say to you.”

Yu Chen didn’t really want to see her. “I’m already done talking to her. Tell her to leave.”

“You better still see her.”

Drawing close, Ling Qing lowered his voice and said, “Qin Yanyu likes you.”

Startled, Yu Chen cast Ling Qing an incredulous look.

Seeing his surprise, Ling Qing instantaneously laughed.

Now, Yu Chen really didn’t want to see her.

“Really?” He asked doubtfully.

“Absolutely. Why else would she target me?”

“Isn’t it because she became so popular that she grew an ego?” Yu Chen asked decisively.
